Thaipongal Festival was celebrated on 25th January 2022 at the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat with the financial assistance of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Ministry of Culture and Education and the collaboration of Department of Cultural Affairs.

According to His Excellency the President's Vision of Prosperity Policy Statement, In order to realize the concept of 'Drug Free Nation - A Prosperous Country' the National Board for the Control of Dangerous Drugs and the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat launched the Dangerous Drug Prevention leaflet distribution Campaign held within the division on 11th January 2022.

The 1927 hotline was introduced to help drug addicts get rid of their addictions.

A ceremony to award permanent appointment letters as Development Officers to trainee graduates who have completed one year of training was held on 19-01-2022 at the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat under the patronage of the Hon. Ajith Shyaminda who is the former member of Provincial Council and Deputy Chairman of the Regional Coordinating Committee.

For this event Mr. Ashoka Rajapaksha, Hon. Chairman of Bulathkohupitiya Multipurpose Co-operative Union and Coordinating Secretary of Chairman of Deraniyagala Divisional Coordinating Committee Hon. Prof. Thissa Vitharana MP; Mr. Sesiri Karunarathna who is the Deraniyagala divisional Coordinating Secretary of Hon. Prof. Thissa Vitharana, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat Mrs. P.C. Madushani de Silva, Assistant Director Mr. Ananda Somaratne, Administrative Grama Niladhari Mr. Ranjith Gunawardena and a group of officials participated.

Under the Decentralized Budget Program, on the provisions of Hon. Dushmantha Mithrapala, Member of Parliament, cooking kits were distributed to 20 registered voluntary organizations in Deraniyagala Division on 10th January 2022 at the auditorium of Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat.
