With the financial support of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Ministry of Education and Culture and the leadership of the Cultural Department of the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat, the 2023 Thai Pongal celebration program was held on January 23 at the Divisional Secretariat premises.

Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat's New Year 2023 duties were started on January 02, giving priority to religious ceremonies.

Here, the Divisional Secretary briefed the officials on how the government employees' program should be prepared according to the state norms in view of the challenges of 2023 and the program ended by adding good wishes for the new year.

Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat organized an exhibition named "Sengawunu Rasayaka - Pibidena Divimanga". Aimed to promote food security and utilization of underutilized crop foods in the region. The exhibition was held on 1st September 2022 at the Multipurpose Hall, Draniyagala. This event was organized with the support of  Deraniyagala Agrarian Service Center, the Deraniyagala Vidatha Center and the Department of Agriculture.

The Commissioner General and Additional Commissioner General of the Department of Agrarian Development, Kegalle District Secretary, Provincial Deputy Director of Agriculture and many other dignitaries participated in this exhibition.

On this occassion a blog (https://chefderaniyagaladssin.blogspot.com/) and an e-book (http://deraniyagala.ds.gov.lk/images/2022/underutilized_crops_sin.pdf) launched for promotion of underutilized crops.

Mr. K. Rameshraja started his duties as the new Assistant Divisional Secretary of Deraniyagala Regional Secretariat on August 1, 2022.
